Embracing Sustainable Architecture + Canyon Tree House

Homeowners are turning to and investing in clean, renewable energy. Utilizing solar, wind, geothermal, and fuel cell energy has become a regular fixture in home improvement projects. New communities are built using sustainable building practices, and car-charging bays are being built into homes. Whether for ecological preservation or to save money, more people are taking advantage of green building and living.

Green building is the practice of creating structures and using environmentally responsible and resource-efficient processes throughout the building’s life cycle. From the project’s site to the design, construction, and everything in between, green building requires four crucial components: materials, energy, water, and health.

While many use green building practices for ecological and environmental reasons, you can receive tax incentives for residential properties investing in renewable energy. Using The Residential Clean Energy Credit, homeowners in the United States could earn a percentage of credit toward energy taxes if they made energy-saving improvements to their homes. According to the Internal Revenue Service, whether you own or rent, you can receive the credit if the home is where you generally reside.

There are entire neighborhoods designed and constructed using zero-net-energy 3D printing. In fact, Palari Villas Scenic Crest is a project in the Coachella Valley that will comprise 20 homes, all 3D-printed, producing net-zero energy. Each home will have a pool, spa, desert garden, solar panels, and a carport with an electric car charging station. The project also includes a Delos wellness system that improves indoor air and water quality to the industry’s highest standards.

“Sustainable building is becoming necessary,” said Chris Evangelatos, Estate Agent at Hilton & Hyland and co-listing agent for Palari Villas Scenic Crest. “3D printing net-zero energy homes seemed impossible just a few years ago.”

Technological advancements have made green building practices commonplace in real estate. On top of efficiency and sustainability, homes with this type of technology are now much more aesthetically pleasing. “Clunky equipment has transformed into sleek, architectural moments,” said Luke Cohen, Estate Agent at Hilton & Hyland and co-listing agent for Palari Villas Scenic Crest. “The homes of the future are here today.”
