The Doheny estate in the Bel Air neighborhood of Los Angeles has sold for more than $33 million, according to people with knowledge of the deal. The property was listed for $43 million in February by Rick Hilton of Hilton & Hyland, along with Judy Feder, Jeff Hyland, Mich Rogers and Tyrone McKillen. The buyer was represented by Susan Smith and Drew Fenton of Hilton & Hyland. On just over 3½ acres, the property is one of the largest in Bel Air, Ms. Feder said. The house was the home of William H. Doheny, Sr. , grandson of oil baron Edward Laurence Doheny, Sr. , and his wife, Onnalee. It is over 10,000 square feet, but a much larger house could be constructed on the site, Ms. Feder said, and most potential buyers were interested in building a new house there. Ms. Feder declined to name the buyer, but said the purchaser is from New York.
